Brian has a broad-based real estate and construction law practice and serves as outside counsel to companies in the sector. In his construction law practice, he regularly represents restoration companies, subcontractors, and general contractors in all phases of construction and reconstruction—both new builds and post-casualty restoration projects.
In his real estate practice, Brian advises developers, boards, and property managers on the formation of planned communities and condominiums. He also provides counsel on various legal aspects of community association law, property acquisition and development, entitlements, and zoning matters before local governments.
Brian is the author of the North Carolina Bar Association’s 2019 publication, Common Interest Communities in North Carolina, 2nd Ed., a legal treatise covering planned communities, condominiums, timeshares, dockominiums, and other forms of common interest communities.
He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at both Campbell Law School in Raleigh and Texas A&M School of Law. Brian is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and the College of Community Association Lawyers. He has served as counsel of record in several North Carolina appellate cases and is a frequent speaker at national and statewide events on community association law. Brian holds an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating.
